5 When finished, click OK.
The name of the filter appears in the list of the Filters. The Filter file is in the report-defs directory.
Editing a report filter
You can always change the properties of a filter. From the Filters dialog box in Historical Reports:
1Select the filter to change. Click Edit.
The Report Filter dialog box appears.
2 Change the filter properties.
To see the function of each property, right-click it, and then click What’s This?.
Deleting a report filter
To remove a filter from the list of filters, select the filter. Click Delete. This removes the .ftr file from
the \report-defs directory.
Applying a report filter
Each report can use only one filter. To apply a filter, open the report properties.
1From Historical Reports, select the report to apply a filter to. Click Edit.
2Use the Filter drop-down list to select a filter.
Only if you make a filter in the Filters dialog box will it appear in the drop-down list. For more information, refer
to “Creating a new report filter” on page 53.
3 Click OK.
Save the new report to the ReportName.rep file in the report-defs directory. When you make the report, the filter
is applied.
Running Reports
You can create one or more reports with Historical Reports.:
1From Historical Reports, select the check box adjacent to each report that is necessary.
2 Click Run.
Report Sections and Consolidated Sections
You can use Historical Reports to create a report with one or more sections. Each section includes a dif-
ferent type of information or network traffic. You can put together specified sections to create a sum-
mary. You can then create a report on the event log messages of a group of Fireboxes®.
