Setting IP Address Ranges
If your ShoreTel system consists of more than one site, you must define an IP address range for IP
phones at each site. Setting IP address ranges for each site ensures that new phones added to the
system are associated with the correct voice switch at the designated site.
If a phone with an IP address that is not within a specified range for any site is added or there are no IP
address ranges defined for any site, the phone is automatically assigned to the Headquarters site. As
a result:
Any seven-digit numbers dialed from the IP phone are dialed as numbers within the area code of
the Headquarters site.
All calls to users who are not at the Headquarters site use the configured intersite voice encoding
for that system.
To set the IP address range for phones at each site:
1. Launch ShoreTel Director.
2. Click Administration > IP Phones > IP Phone Address Map.
The page lists sites and their associated IP address ranges.
3. Click the New button.
The Site IP Address Range edit page opens.
4. In the Site field, select a site to configure its IP address range.
5. In the Low IP Address field, enter the lowest IP address to use for the site. The IP address must
be valid for the network in which the site is located.
6. In the High IP Address field, enter the highest IP address to use for the site. The IP address must
be valid for the network in which the site is located.
7. In the Caller’s Emergency Service Identification (CESID) field, type the caller ID number that
the system passes to emergency responders when an emergency call originates on an IP phone
at the site. For information about configuring a system for emergency calls, see the ShoreTel
System Administration Guide.
8. If teleworkers might use the site, select the Teleworkers check box.
