Field Memory Recorder (Chapter 2: Before using the FR-2LE)
About power supply
The FR-2LE is powered either by the supplied AC adaptor or by four AA-type batteries
(alkaline, Ni-MH or Ni-Cd) or the Tamiya battery.
Make sure that the FR-2LE power switch is set to "OFF" when changing batteries or
when disconnect the AC adaptor from the unit. The unit continuously accesses data when the
power is on, so the memory contents may be reset by the sudden power interruption.
Operating the FR-2LE on the AC adaptor
Use only the supplied AC adaptor. Using another AC adaptor may damage the
FR-2LE due to the mismatch of the power voltage, polarity, etc.
When connect or disconnect the AC adaptor, make sure that the [POWER] switch is set to
• Connecting the AC adaptor
While the [POWER] switch of the FR-2LE is set to "OFF", connect the AC adaptor to
the [DC IN] jack on the left side panel of the FR-2LE, and then to the AC main
To operate the FR-2LE on an AC adaptor, use the supplied AC adaptor.

• If batteries are completely exhausted or the power supply section has a trouble by surge
current, etc., the protection circuit works and the power is shut off. In such a case, set the
[POWER] switch to "OFF", replace batteries with new (or fully-charged) ones, then set the
[POWER] switch to "ON" again.
If the FR-2LE does not return to the normal condition after carrying out the procedure
above, there may be some trouble inside the circuit. In such a case, consult your local
Fostex dealer or service station.
Do not unplug the AC adaptor while the FR-2LE is accessing a memory card (i.e.
during recording, playback, etc.). Turning the power off suddenly may damage recorded
data or the memory card.
