Field Memory Recorder (Chapter 5: Recording/playback)
Press the [REC STBY] key to enter the input monitor mode, and adjust the direction of
the internal microphones as well as the distance between the sound source and the
internal microphones to get the appropriate recording level. You can check the re-
cording level via the level meters on the front panel or on the screen. (Note that the
recording level controls are not effective when using the internal microphones.)

<Notes>:
Adjust the recording level appropriately so that the corresponding LED level
meter on the front panel or on the screen does not exceed "0 dB".
To get the maximum signal-to-noise performance, set the recording level appropriately
so that the meter indication does not exceed "0 dB" but goes up near to the "0 dB" at
the loudest part of the input signal. When the "OL" indicator on the meter is frequently
lit, the sound may distorted.
The "MIC PEAK" indicator on the LED level meter is lit when the microphone amplifier
receives the overload signal. When recording a signal from an external microphone,
adjust the [MIC TRIM] control appropriately so that the "MIC PEAK" indicator does not
light. The reference level is set to the "-12 dBFS" relative to digital full-scale.
"12" of the onscreen meter is labeled in inverse video, showing that it is the reference
position.
